Shopping - Where to Shop In & Around Chicago

If you're looking for upscale shopping you'll find it along the Magnificent Mile and State Street where thousands of restaurants and unique architecture is the major tourist draw. Chicago is also the third-largest convention destination with McCormick Place hosting the majority of the conventions. Many convention goers choose upper end accommodations and enjoy their stay at a Chicago luxury hotel. Navy Pier is another top attraction and is home to retail stores, restaurants, exhibition halls, auditoriums and museums. It has a huge Ferris wheel which is visited by 8 million people each year.

River North - the primary art gallery district is focused in the River North area. Old buildings have been converted to contemporary art galleries. It has also recently seen a large concentration of home design shops.

The Merchandise Mart - AKA The Mart, is primarily occupied by interior-design showrooms and is open only to professional designers. However, public tours are offered once a week.

Armitage Avenue - located inn the Old Town and Lincoln Park, Armitage Avenue neighborhoods. Has plenty of shops and boutiques for the sophisticated, well-heeled shopper.
